This is a wonderfully, moist recipe that I created/adapted after the style of my sourdough chocolate cake. This cake is delicious with no icing...but feel free to add icing if you must.
1 cup starter
1/2 oil
3/4 cup cold coffee
1 cup milk
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
Mix all dry ingredients together thoroughly with a whisk. Mix all wet ingredients together. Combine both mixtures. Mix with an electric mixer until well blended. This is a wet, thin batter.
Pour into well oiled and floured 9x13 inch glass dish.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until knife poked in the center comes out clean. Sometimes I turn off the oven for the last 5 minutes to give the center a chance to finish cooking.
