Sourdough Root Beer Cake

If you like root beer, you will love this cake. As with all my sourdough cake recipes, this is moist and tasty. You may top with my root beer glaze or serve by itself. To make this a sourdough root beer float cake, serve with cool whip or vanilla ice cream. Delicious! Note: do NOT use flat root beer.

In a large bowl, mix:
1 cup starter
1/2 cup oil
12 oz can root beer (1-1/2 cups)
1/4 cup milk or ricemilk

In a 4-cup measuring cup, mix:
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda

With an electric mixer, combine dry and wet ingredients. Pour into a well-greased and floured 9x13" glass dish. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Let set 5 minutes before glazing.

Root Beer Glaze:
2/3 cup confectioner's sugar
6 tbsp root beer

If you own a pizza docker, use it to roll over cake. Otherwise, poke with a fork or skewer.

Pour glaze over cake, immediately using a knife to spread evenly.
Wait another 5 minutes for glaze to soak into cake. Serve warm or room temp.
